There are 224 members of the Vidhana Sabha or the Legislative Assembly of Karnataka state. The state of Karnataka is divided into 224 constituencies used to elect the Legislative assembly members. Each constituency elects one member of the assembly. Members are popularly known as MLAs. Poll dates for Karnataka State General Elections 200.

Phase I


Last date for making nominations - 23-04-2008 Polls - 10-05-2008


Phase II


Last date for making nominations - 29-04-2008 Polls - 16-05-2008


Phase III


Last date for making nominations - 03-05-2008 Polls - 22-05-2008





Counting shall be undertaken on 25-May-2008.


Model code of conduct has been implemented in the state with immediate effect.
